About Me
I have been a resident of District 39 in Brooklyn my whole life. I went to school in the district, worked in the district, so I feel that I truly have a vested interest in my community.
I started my schooling at P.S.230 in school district 15, from there I went to J.H.S. 142 in Carroll Gardens, and then on to Lincoln H.S. where I studied animal science. For my college education, I first went to Kingsborough C.C. and then finished at Hunter College. Shortly thereafter, I started to develop an interest in politics. I was looking for a way to involve myself in the political process beyond just voting for a candidate and hoping he or she did the right thing. I realized that if you want things to change you must be willing to put the time and energy into changing them yourself. You can’t depend on someone else to do it for you.
I am taking it upon myself to run for office because like a lot of New Yorkers, I am not satisfied with my local government. I feel that it's time for more accountability in city politics. I also feel that the citizens of this city must be fully involved and aware of what is going on in their community. There must be constant communication between the people and their local officials. With all the problems the city is facing, a 5 billion dollar budget gap, mismanagement of city funds, cuts to the police and fire departments while city councilmen are allowed the usage of discretionary or "slush" funds to facilitate their own projects: it’s incumbent on all of us to do what we can to help.
It's time for New Yorkers to take stock in their city's future. For me, this not an opportunity to further my political career, I don't have any agenda, I just want the chance to positively affect my community and my city.
